Harvesting Tortoise Shell is illegal due to the protected nature of turtles and relative species. Long prided for its depth and beauty, Tortoise Shell has been used on furniture, boxes, glasses, cars and many other places where an elegant accent is desired. By hand painting, it is ecological and done in tribute to the creatures that lost their lives in the past and still do from poachers on the black market.
Pricing on shell is relative to the context of the project and time to complete. Most of the items to which this hand painted Tortoise Shell would apply are small in size and viewed at such a close proximity that every detail of the surface must be tended to.
